Mechanics and Newton’s Law

For billion of years, the Earth has been tirelessly orbiting around the Sun. This repetitive motion was kept by the virtue of gravitational force. And for us to understand the whole story about this, we need not to travel away from the Earth. Instead we just study these things in our planet. We can study them by relating the motions of vehicles in a curved road, a plane making a landing on the airport, and many more. And we can understand all of these through Physics and its branch Mechanics. Physics is the study of the basic principles that include light and matter, in order to discover and understand these implications of these laws, we can use the scientific method. There assumptions that there are rules and guidelines that should be followed for the universe to function. And these rules are partially understood by human beings (Crowell 22). While Mechanics is the branch of Physics that deals with the study of motion, matter, force and associated relationships between them (Alinea et al 29). And about 300 years ago, a brilliant mind was able to understand and relate his studies to everything that is concerned and related to the unanswered questions about the universe. This man named Isaac Newton came up with different conclusions and theories that are now fully accepted by the science society. His experiments gave answers to those questions and he left us with more things to think and discover. When he was about 23 years old, Sir Isaac Newton developed theories about gravitation in 1666, he claimed that all things fall to the earth because of a force called gravity keeps everything to be attracted and pulled down to earth. This idea came up when he was seating below an apple tree, then suddenly an apple fell down to his head. And on that day on he wondered why everything falls to the earth. Sir Isaac Newton Concluded that the Force between two mass containing bodies is given by the formula: F=G x (mass1 x mass2)/ (r) (r) Where F= force, G is the gravitational constant which is 6.67 x 10-11 N m2 kg-2, M1 and M2 are the masses of the two objects, and r2 is the square of their distance from each other. This experiment determines the attraction of objects through their masses. We can relate this to large quantities like stars, planets and other heavenly bodies. And even humans have attraction of forces from other things but these forces are very small and negligible in nature. About 20 years later, in 1686, he presented his three laws of motions-the Law of Inertia, the Law of Acceleration, and the Law of Interaction. These laws are to define, study, and understand the principles of forces and their interactions with each other along with other aspects which include acceleration Gravity, mass, and velocity. The first Law of Motion is called the Law of Inertia. It states that when a body is acted upon by a zero net force, the velocity remains constant. This velocity can be either at zero or non-zero magnitude (Alinea et al 35). This means that an object at rest, when acted upon by a zero net force, the object remains at rest. And if a moving object is acted upon by a zero net force, the object remains at that velocity and direction Imagine a car moving in a straight direction, if you exert two equal forces on either sides of the car, which will cancel each other and the result will be a zero net force, the motion of the car will remain the same. And this is also true with objects at zero motion or at rest. A good example of this law in our daily life is when you are sleeping. Assume that when you sleep, you were at zero motion. And your wife suddenly pushed you to the other side of the bed, and the tendency for you is to fall on the floor because the force acted upon you was non-zero. If you have another person on your other side, and that person will exert a force equal to what your wife will exert at the same time but opposite in direction, you will surely not to fall. Newton’s second law of motion was the Law of acceleration. It states that a body acted upon by an external on-zero net force will accelerate. And the net force is mathematically equal to the mass of the body times the acceleration (Alinea et al 35). Newton also made an explanation to the tendency of an object to move when acted by an external non-zero force. He gave the formula F=ma, Where â€Å"F† is the force acted upon the object, â€Å"m† is the mass of the object, and †a† is the acceleration of the object due to the exertion of the force. Experiments also show that the acceleration is inversely proportional to the mass, given by the formula a=F/m. This law explains why objects move when they are hit. An example is the car accident of former senator Rene Saguisag. According to the news, the van of the Mr. Saguisag was hit by a truck and it went about 20 to 30 meters before going stop. The Law of acceleration can explained to what happened to the van. Because the van was hit only in one side, the tendency of the van is to move and accelerate in the direction of the external force acted upon it. Another example is when you are walking down a street and suddenly you was hit by a muscular man about 200 Kilograms, and the tendency is you will move according to the direction that man was going and you will be accelerating due to the force acted upon you by that man. It happens all the time, even between pre-school pupils. The last law of motion is the Law of Interaction. It was stated that if an object A applies a force on another object B, object B is also applying the same amount of force but in opposite direction. And that their net force is zero (Crowell 145). It means that if you exert a force or effort to an object, the object exert the same amount of force but in opposite direction. For example, if you open a door, the door exerts equal amount of force to effort you exert on it. Much like of†what you do to others, they do it unto you†. Now that these laws explain and answer our questions about the universe, we can now relate it from the simplest parts of our daily life to the most complex structure of the universe. And for further analyzing and continuous exploration of the still undiscovered mysteries of the universe, we can develop and sustain answers to future questions that will make us enlighten our minds. And we need to cooperate and be part of the growing family of science that rooted from the intuitive and curiosity of the human brain to gain more knowledge in order to attain the best for our lives. And if I am not mistaken, we deserve to be the beings that were created to be alive. And every mind has the will to understand the whole of life, and what lies behind all those mysteries. Drama Logbook Example Essay

Today before drama class started I was really tired and really couldn’t be bothered for class. I hope this didn’t affect what happened in class, I don’t think it had that much of an affect. Mr McPhee gave us a lot of talks today which provided us with less time to work in our groups. After Mr McPhee marked the roll he told us about the new school policy with mobile phones. Instead of only getting punished during school hours with a mobile phone, this policy now applies even if we are on the school campus. The next thing he talked about was a story about his flat mate long ago. His friend was Japanese and during the time where he was learning how to speak English, the teacher saw a spider and killed it. His friend was appalled and told him that spiders are man’s best friend because it kills insects for us and also it’s harmless to humans. Spider’s are entitled to as much life as we were. They are more scared of us then we are of them. When he finished telling us his story we finally were sent into our groups to work. Phillip and I just took a seat in front of Mr McPhee’s table to wait for the girls to get ready. They took a while to get started, but eventually they got there. He had to call her mum to get some money and Lisa and Amanda had to get changed into tights again for better working conditions. He turned on the air conditioning for us. Eventually they came and we got started. Lisa and Amanda got the blocks for us this lesson and put it on the floor. He told us that we should have done it, but we were tired. Lisa was really eager to just go through the whole thing first whereas the rest of the group wanted to talk about the start and how we could improve the start. Eventually we caved and decided to just go through what we had so far. We made our way through the work before He stopped our group and told us that we needed to make our starting thing more dynamic and powerful. He also stopped us at anot her point where he told us that the deliver of the words would be influenced by the character. We took his advice and built upon this. Phillip had to redo his line over again so many times, it was pretty funny. We also tried to work on the start but decided to work with it next lesson. Even though we knew what we were doing, we kept messing up and it took us a long time to get through what we had. We added some little details and refined what we had. It was more of a rehearsal then adding to it this lesson. Once we reached the end of what we had plan we all took a seat. The next thing we had to do was plan another persons segment. Phillip was suppose to be next but it was too hard so we decided to brainstorm Jeannette’s. It was still too hard so we just brainstormed in general. In the end we managed to sketch in simple terms what the foundations of each of their performances would be. Jeannette would be along the lines of each of Jeannette thinks that each of us are a fairytale character but the truth is she’s only seeing things and we are just ordinary people. Phillip’s one would be the one we decided before, Lisa didn’t like this idea for a reason but I liked it. Lisa’s one would be about her not fitting in to society so she tries to copy people to fit in with the rest of society and makes friends but she fails. At the end of the lesson, George’s group volunteered to go do their work in progress today. They wanted feedback and advice on how to improve and some negative and positive feedback from Mr Mcphee. Even though they didn’t have enough time to hear the feedback, they were able to perform most of their piece. From what I saw I noticed that their piece had a lot of exiting the stage which was bad. I liked the fact that they used their bodies to turn into machines and I liked the story of their idea ! Their story was basically a girl who is writing in her diary about the different dreams she wants to have and eventually she falls asleep and dreams about meeting all of them. Firstly she meets Harry Potter and then she runs into Alice from Wonderland and then it’s James Bond and lastly it’s Juliet. It was pretty well how they blended all the stories together. The bell rang and we were dismissed. The teacher said he would give them feedback next time.

They were considered the food of the Gods. Walnuts were a traded item by English ships throughout the Mediterranean and that is why it is called the English Walnut. The American people Essay The offensive had some initial successes for the Vietnamese because American intelligence failed to detect the build-up of enemy troops. One of the most famous events during this offensive was the infiltration of the American embassy in the South Vietnamese capital Saigon by a 15-man suicide squad, all of whom were easily killed. A reporter at the time in the embassy which was regarded as the safest place in Vietnam saw this as it was happening and this crisis was viewed by millions around the globe. After confident predictions of an imminent victory many Americans were shocked to see footage of Communist fighters in the grounds of the American embassy which created a ‘credibility gap’ between the official message and what was seen happening on television. Famously Walter Cronkite, the most influential US anchorman said â€Å"What the hell is going on? I thought we were winning this war†. The introduction of draft of new soldiers further increased opposition, and many burnt their draft cards. Black and other minorities, who made up the largest proportion of the American army, did not want to fight ‘for something that they don’t have themselves’, especially since many white people got out of the draft by going to college. Famously Muhammad Ali was prosecuted for refusing to be drafted and said, â€Å"No Vietcong ever called me nigger†. Also the shooting of Vietnam Veterans who were peacefully protesting outside Kent state only caused more unrest amongst the American people. Huge marches were taking place against the war, with a million people joining one in New York. Between 1960 and 1973 over 500,000 men deserted from the armed forces and in 1967 ‘Vietnam Veterans against the War’ was formed. Particularly significant in undermining support for the war at home was the growing realisation of the brutality of the war. US troops were trained to see the enemy as not human so that they felt able to kill them. The tactic of ‘Search and Destroy’ were intended to help find Communist guerrillas hiding in villages, but often resulted in innocent civilians being attacked and having their houses and crops destroyed as collateral damage. The use of chemical defoliants was also very damaging as they were found later to be carcinogenic and America’s indiscriminate bombing seemed only to alienate the South Vietnamese rather than win other their ‘Hearts and Minds’. The most famous atrocity of the war was the massacre in the village of My Lai on March 1968. The company was told that a Vietcong battalion was hiding in the village and that any villagers found were definitely communist supporters. Despite finding no enemy fighters they destroyed the village and killed hundreds of its inhabitants. Also the cost of the troops in Vietnam amounted to about $20 to $30 billion a year. In 1967 ‘Life Magazine’ calculated it cost $400,000 for each Vietcong guerrilla killed. The media was the most powerful reason for America losing the war and the fact that it was uncensored meant that gruesome pictures were reported back in America which caused un-repairable damage to the war effort. This war showed definitively that if the people at home are not happy to fight, a country will never win.
